What our organization offers:
The Village of Mount Pleasant is a community rooted in a rich agricultural history; one that has always depended greatly on the natural environment which its original settlers depended. The earliest settlers inhabited the fertile soils along the western shores of the Root River, forming the township in 1842. Forty-eight years later, residents established their first town hall (1890) at the intersection of what is now Hwy 20 and Hwy 31. This town hall served adequate until 1949 when it was decided to build a new, modern facility at the intersection of Hwy 11 & Hwy 31. The new facility opened in 1954. Significant growth since then brought about the adoption of a local zoning ordinance in 1972, which established the ability to more efficiently control development, setting the stage for the future. In September 2003, Mount Pleasant took a big step in becoming incorporated as a village, securing its boundaries as an identifiable community. Over 175 years later, the community has embraced this history as a strong agricultural and manufacturing base has evolved to compliment its harvest land.
