*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 08/01/2026
Take a closer look at the science all around us with hands-on microscopy activities for curious minds of all ages! Thanks to partners including Hitachi High-Tech America’s Inspire STEM Program, the Microscopy Society of America Education Outreach Committee, Zeiss, and Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD), guests can investigate the unseen world through professional scientific tools.
Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.
Get hands-on with a Hitachi tabletop scanning electron microscope (SEM), compare observations using compound and dissecting microscopes, examine prepared slides, and discover how scientists use microscopy to study everything from living organisms to advanced materials. Along the way, experts will be on hand to answer questions, share real-world applications, and demonstrate how these powerful tools help drive discovery and innovation.
Whether you’re a budding scientist or simply curious about what lies beyond the limits of the human eye, this interactive experience will reveal a fascinating world hidden in plain sight.
